Our client is seeking a Safety and Compliance Officer to provide effective WHS support to a large manufacturing business in Smithfield and contribute to the overall safety and quality standards of the business, it’s clients and projects. The ideal candidate will be proactive in closing safety gaps and demonstrate a high standard of SOP document creation and auditing processes.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain SOPs, safety signage and operational documentation.
- Assist with the review, collation and distribution of safety communications including SWMS, toolbox talks, safety alerts and site safety documentation.
- Support the maintenance and record keeping of safety equipment and devices, including first aid kits, fire extinguishers, harnesses and other compliance-related assets.
- Compile and maintain safety, quality and compliance data, registers and reporting dashboards, ensuring timely submission to relevant stakeholders.
- Assist with incident investigations, root cause analysis (RCA) and the tracking and close-out of corrective actions.
- Participate in the preparation of documentation for internal and external audits, compliance reviews and certification renewals.
- Assist the Operations Manager with site audits, inspections and the management of non-conformance reports (NCRs) within required time frames.
- Support the investigation and documentation of client complaints, incidents and accidents, including the implementation of corrective and preventative actions.
- Assist with the maintenance of risk assessments, SWMS, SOPs and other management system documentation.
- Participate in post-project review meetings to identify lessons learned and continuous improvement opportunities.
- Coordinate and maintain training, competency and compliance records.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance safety, compliance and operational performance.
- Assisting the Operations Manager with environmental compliance activities, environmental audits, reporting requirements, and the maintenance of environmental management documentation.
- Supporting change management initiatives through document updates, training coordination, stakeholder engagement, and implementation of new processes and procedures.
Required Skills/Qualification
- Formal qualification/certification in WHS and Compliance processes
- Minimum 2 year’s experience within manufacturing industry
- Strong adherence to process, policy and procedures
- Excellent time management skills and ability to multitask and prioritise workload in a high volume, fast paced environment.
- Attention to detail and the ability to learn new systems and soft wares.

About the role:
As a container unloader your duties will include HEAVY LIFTING unloading boxes of various products out of containers and stacking/palletising those products on pallets and wrapping pallets with plastic wrap. This role is labour intensive and will require you to stand on your feet for the whole duration of your shift and lift between 5kg to 25kg.
