  • $155k per annum (incl allowances) plus super

Are you a forward thinking Operations Manager with experience within the Mining and Waste Sector? Our client is currently seeking a versatile, out of the box thinker to lead the Environmental Services team contracted to a National Business at the Olympic Dam Mine in South Australia.

Reporting to the National Contract Manager, the Operations Manager will be responsible for overseeing all waste management operations, maintenance, and control activities on site. The key areas of responsibility are:

  • Key Responsibilities

    Operations Management

    • Proactively manage operations following government and other statutory regulations, contract requirements and the clients policies and procedures.
    • Align processes and reporting with the contract to ensure best practices are implemented following contract requirements, including the maintenance and implementation of the water quality management plan.
    • Identify, manage and report on opportunities and risks, ensuring priority areas are determined and actions to address these needs are implemented in a timely manner.
    • Develop and implement strategies to improve service delivery whilst maintaining customer service requirements.
    • Identify and implement opportunities for optimisation in operations and maintenance to demonstrate value delivery to clients and customers.
    • Manage the effective and efficient engagement of contractors and contracts for maintenance and minor capital works and repairs.
    • Ensure that all administrative requirements are addressed in a timely and accurate manner and in line with policy and procedure.
    • Effectively manage incidents and emergencies, minimising the impact on customers and consumers.
    • Ensure that the contract’s requirements with our client are met and that the operations are managed within the budget and financial objectives of the team

    Business Development

    • To identify and actively pursue revenue-generating or cost-saving opportunities
    • Build client and customer feedback into operational improvements.
    • Engage regularly with senior customer management to promote the client’s capability and present solutions to customer issues.
    • Maximise business opportunities by providing advice, quotes and feedback as required.
    • Maintain clear communication between all key stakeholders (internal and external) and provide project progress reports and updates.
    • Ensure appropriate information is communicated between customers and operational personnel.
    • Make effective representation of the client to Government and statutory authorities, community and business groups.
    • Develop productive relationships with suppliers

    Safety

    • Promote a safe environment by actively completing in-field leadership as per client requirements.
    • Record and manage incidents as they occur.
    • Review all operational and safety documentation before implementation.
    • Ensure fleet and equipment are maintained compliantly, providing required data to the fleet maintenance team
    • Lead the implementation of safety initiatives and the development of a strong safety culture with all employees and contractors.

    Qualifications and Experience

    • Minimum 5 years experience in a supervision or management role
    • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft/Google Suite programs (e.g. Word,Excel)
    • Experience dealing with dangerous goods and EPA transport requirements
    • Experience working or managing a landfill or similar
    • Bachelor Degree or Trade (Engineering, Business or Mechanical Preferred)
    • Previous Dam experience highly valued but not essential

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Reviewing tender documentation and collating necessary information for bid preparation.
    • Measuring drawings and compiling Bills of Quantities when required.
    • Preparing concise, accurate quotations for internal review.
    • Reviewing and refining bids from colleagues to ensure accuracy and competitiveness.
    • Compiling and submitting bids, including methodologies, programs and priced schedules.
    • Attending tender meetings and participating in site visits to gain project insights.

    The ideal candidate will possess:

    • 4-5 years of civil estimating experience (preferred).
    • Strong communication skills for client interactions and team collaboration.
    • A Class C driver’s license and White Card/Induction Card.
    • Familiarity with government sector projects.
    • Some experience working on construction site in labouring or hands on capacity
    • Proficiency in using estimating software and tools.
    • Hands on construction experience advantageous
    • Relevant degree or certification in Civil Engineering or Construction Management – (Preferred)

    Maintenance Tradesperson

    LABOURPOWER is calling all Maintenance Tradesperson for casual employment based in the Western Suburbs of Adelaide in the Recycling Industry.

    The Maintenance Tradesperson will be an integral member of the VR SA maintenance team providing hands-on maintenance activities and providing the Maintenance Manager with support to achieve high productivity levels.

    The position’s primary responsibilities include executing preventative and breakdown maintenance requirements for the sites to ensure minimal unscheduled down time and increase plant reliability whilst following all business processes. Critical to the role is the responsibility for the OHS&E of employees, contractors and visitor, demonstrating appropriate Safety Leadership behaviours through your everyday activities.

    To be suitable you:

    • Will have the ability to pass drug and alcohol testing
    • Must have flexibility to work both Day and Afternoon shifts (38hrs per week)
